I was born and raised on a small ranch in the rolling hills of Northern California, where my family raised cattle and worked the land the old-fashioned way—with grit, patience, and good dogs. Some of my earliest memories are of my father’s blue heelers, their keen eyes locked on the herd, their bodies coiled with energy, ready to dart at his slightest command. I was fascinated by them—their intelligence, their loyalty, their sheer determination. By the time I was eight, I was helping train pups, learning to read their instincts, and understanding what made a great working dog.

As I grew older, my love for heelers only deepened. I spent summers at local stock dog trials, apprenticed with seasoned ranchers, and even worked as a kennel hand for a respected ACD breeder. Over the years, I saw how the right dog could change a ranch—or a family. A well-bred heeler wasn’t just a pet; it was a partner, a protector, and a force of nature.

When I started The Heeler Herd in my late 40s, it wasn’t just a business—it was the culmination of a lifetime spent with these incredible dogs. My breeding program is built on the lessons I learned in the dust and sweat of the working ranch: strength, intelligence, and heart matter most. Every pup I raise is bred for health, drive, and that unmistakable heeler devotion. Whether they’re heading to a working farm, an agility course, or a loving home, I make sure they’re ready for life’s adventures.

These days, you’ll find me on my property just outside Sacramento, surrounded by my dogs, my grandkids (who are already showing the same love for heelers I had at their age), and the legacy of a breed that’s been part of my story for as long as I can remember.
